PTA Officer Board Position Descriptions:

President - Coordinates the work of officers and committee chairs, presides over board and general membership meetings. Attends LISD PTA Council meetings and events.

1st Vice President (Fundraising) - Presides over meetings in the absence of the president. Oversees the fundraising goals put forth by the budget committee.  Fundraisers should reflect the high principles of the association.  Each event should have educational, social or recreational value.

2nd Vice President (Membership) - Builds an informed and participating membership by enrolling parents, teachers and interested citizens.  Oversees the membership drive and manages the member information and submissions.  The purpose of this volunteer child-advocacy association is to make better lives for all of our students.

3rd Vice President (Programs) - Oversees scheduling and execution of the PTA sponsored projects/events. 

Treasurer - Manages deposits and dispursments of PTA funds, has custody of the PTA funds and keeps books of accounts & financial records. Maintains detailed budget files, and financial reporting at all meetings of the association. 

Secretary - Records the meeting minutes of PTA board and general meetings. Maintains calendar of events for the PTA and creates meeting agendas for the President.

Communications - This role ensures that the school community is informed.  Determine what media (Facebook, email blast, twitter, etc.) should be used to reach an audience and what messages will galvanize interest and participation.

Parliamentarian - Assists the President at all meetings following the Roberts Rules of Order.  This is a great introductory role to the PTA.

Reflections - The Reflections Program is an annual nationally sponsored PTA program that gives students the opportunity to showcase their creativity. Promote the program, collect student artwork submissions, find volunteer judges, submit entries to district to move on, and provide recognition to students.

Clothes Closet - Committee members are needed to collect, inspect, and deliver clothes to the Clothes Closet in Leander. In addition to collecting clothing donations for the Clothes Closet, all LISD schools are scheduled to operate and volunteer two days a year at the Clothes Closet location. Hospitality - This group works to create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere at Vista Ridge.  This committee provides special activities at various times of the year and acts as a host for certain PTA events and staff functions. The tasks center on food events. Planning the menu, prparing the volunteer sign-up, and setting up and cleaning up after the events. Typically, there are 4-5 events per year: Inservice staff breakfast, fall staff breakfast, Soup for the Soul luncheon in February, and Teacher Appreciation week in May (assisting student council with this event). 

Healthy Lifestyles - Assists in ensuring that our campus is focused and dedicated to the health and wellbeing of our students through providing programs, projects and services to promote good physical and mental attitudes.

Historian - Collects, maintains, and preserves the historical records/files of the organization.

Faculty/Staff Representative - Reserved for a teacher or staff memberf at Vista Ridge to act as a hub for information regarding teacher and staff needs and preferences.
